CJM to hear election petition of JHADC candidate

SHILLONG: The Chief Judicial Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills, will hear the election petition of a candidate who unsuccessfully contested the JHADC polls.
Piwell Shylla, a resident of Moolang village, East Jaintia Hills and an independent candidate of Musniang Rngat District Council constituency, has filed a petition with the Meghalaya Governor challenging the validity of the result of the general elections to the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council that declared Phasmon Dkhar of Wapungskur village, East Jaintia Hills from United Democratic Party as the elected candidate. In a notification, T. Dkhar, Commissioner and Secretary, District Council Affairs Department said the Governor has appointed KJ Lyngdoh, Chief Judicial Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills as commissioner for hearing and disposing of Shylla’s petition.
