SHILLONG: A talk on “Unwavering Leadership” was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Shillong Commerce College on Friday as part of the celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The guest speaker, Ampareen Lyngdoh, MLA, Shillong East, spoke about the Father of the Nation as a great leader.
“Great leadership requires hard work, commitment and a willingness to grow. It is something that is learned, practiced and developed daily by habits, by choice and by strength of character,” Lyngdoh said.
She exhorted the students that one must nurture the capability of seeing themselves as a voice that must be heard.
Leadership is a continuous process and it is all about performing. While it is important to generate an opinion for oneself, it is also important to respect the opinion of others.
The principal of the college also spoke on the occasion and the programme ended with a vote of thanks by one of the teachers.
