SHILLONG: K-C Lights, a choir comprising students from Kiddies Corner, Shillong, will represent India at the “8th Bali International Choir Festival” which will be held at Bali, Indonesia on July 25.
Speaking to reporters, Headmaster Brian Wallang expressed delight in having the school choir get an opportunity to perform in Bali.
“We worked hard for this. We want to let people listen to Khasi songs as we will sing Khasi songs there. We want people from other parts of the world know about our region here,” he said.
Wallang yearns to have the state get figured in the Choir map of the world as the state produces many renowned choirs.
‘K-C Lights’ had represented India at the “Grand Prix International Choir Festival” in Thailand where the group bagged two gold medals and named Overall Champion. In this connection, the KC Lights will directly enter the ‘Championship Category’ and not go through the first round.
KC Lights will participate in Teenage and Folk Category. On the other hand, Wallang has also expressed concern on financial constraints.
KC Lights has 21 members who are within the age group of 11- 17 years old. They will be leaving for Bali on Sunday.
