NONGSTOIN: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Langja Area Unit carried out an inspection on Tuesday at a PHC in Nonglang after allegations of lack of doctors’ attendance.
The organisation found that the PHC was attended by some staffs including two nurses and also observed that there were no patients coming to the PHC.
The members of the organisation spoke to the press stating that according to the allegations by the villagers, the doctor only visited the PHC twice a week viz., Wednesday and Thursday. There were times in which pregnant mothers were often referred to Nongstoin due to the unavailability of staff in the PHC.
It was also reported that many villagers are discouraged to seek medical help from the PHC due to the lack of doctors.
