Jowai gets improved broadband, 4G services
SHILLONG/JOWAI: The assistant general manager (marketing), office of the CGMT, NE-I Circle, BSNL, Shillong, has informed that due to a fire incident at BSNL Data Centre at Kolkata, Salt Lake on July 22, prepaid mobile data services have been partially disrupted.
BSNL is making all efforts to restore the affected services, he said, adding that restoration of the remaining services is being taken up on top priority and complete restoration is expected in a few days.
However, BSNL Landline, Broadband and FTTH services have not been affected due to the fire incident, so customers continue to get normal services. Disruption in mobile data services is deeply regretted, he said.
On Friday, FTTH broadband service was launched in Jowai.
The BSNL NE-1 Telecom Circle has announced the much awaited FTTH (Fiber to the Home) Broadband services.
The inaugural call of FTTH services was made by B. Chandrasekhar ITS, Chief General Manager, BSNL NE-1 Telecom Circle to Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District. The BSNL is offering these FTTH BB services with 2 different plans
The BSNL has already launched its Bharat Fibre FTTH BB services in Shillong, Barapani, Tura, and it is further planning to launch these services in Khliehriat, Nongstoin, Nongpoh, Mawkyrwat, Sohra and Mairang towns very shortly.
The BSNL is planning to provide 7500 FTTH BB connections.
BSNL 4G services
The present mobile data network of BSNL in Jowai has been upgraded to 4G data services by deploying the state of art 4G towers thereby enhancing the mobile data speeds upto 30 Mbps.Apart from Jowai town, 4G services were launched in Shillong, Nongstoin, Tura, Nongpoh, Khliehriat, Barapani, Umsning, Sohra towns.
As many as 108 towers of 4G technology are deployed in these stations.
