There were reports that on July 18, two vehicles with cattle were apprehended by the police of Sohshriek, in Jaintia Hills. It was also alleged that the duo claimed that the vehicles and cattle belonged to them.
However, in a statement, Chyrmang and Blah have clarified that after they were informed about the incident, they rushed to the spot to inquire about the matter, and that the seized vehicles and the cattle do not belong to them contrary to reports.
‘We are not involved in smuggling of cattle, we have no clues where these cattle were going’, they said in the statement.
According to the drivers and the challans, the consignments were supposed to be taken to Mizoram, they informed. The organisation urged the concerned authority to form a committee to probe into the smuggling of cattle to Bangladesh.
