SHILLONG: A felicitation ceremony was organised by Assam Rifles to appreciate the Mizoram U-19 Girls Football team that brought laurels to the state by winning the Inter-state girls (U-19) football tournament organised by Assam Rifles in Kohima, a release issued here informed. The girls were prepared by Aizawl Battalion of Assam Rifles/ 23 Sector Assam Rifles/ HQ IGAR (E) for four weeks. The team was felicitated by Pu Robert Romawia Royte, Sports Minister of Mizoram and Brig Vinod S, Commander, 23 Sector Assam Rifles. The team continued its winning streak throughout the tournament by defeating Nagaland and Assam in preliminary knockout stage and semifinals respectively. In finals, the team comprehensively defeated Sikkim by a margin of three goals.
