Teachers resent non-release of arrears

JOWAI: Primary school teachers under Jowai Sardar have expressed resentment over non-release of their 25 per cent arrears that was sanctioned last month.
All Jaintia Primary School Teachers Association president L Jat informed that the treasury officer had sent the sanctioned amount to the United Bank of India, Jowai branch, but it was later blocked.
“The officer informed us that the payment was stopped on order issued by the higher authority’, Jat said.
They were also informed that there was no sanction of their salary for two months, he said.
Jat has requested the government particularly the education and the finance departments to release the arrears at the earliest.
