Reality show contestants seek support, unhappy over response
SHILLONG: Two contestants namely Gabriel and Bobby, who hail from city, are all set to participate in the national reality show India’s Talent Fight, 2019 which will be telecasted on Zee TV. The contestants have called for support from the MLAs, MDCs and the people. They have also criticised the state government for not taking the grievances of people with talents in the field of entertainment.
MLA wants finance management
SHILLONG: Congress MLA P T Sawkmie has reposed faith in IAS officers to tide over the financial crisis. In a statement on Monday, Sawkmie said Meghalaya is known as one of the sates which manages finance diligently. “ The IAS officers are experienced enough to deal with finance so that the state will not be in a mess. There was only one instance when the state had to borrow money from a private financial institution in Delhi because of the financial crisis”, he said. Sawkmie said the party is confident that the present IAS officers, who look after the financial matters, will continue to perform well so that the government servants, teachers, and even contractors and suppliers can get their payments.
Felicitation of CM, Dy CM
NONGSTOIN: A felicitation programme to felicitate the Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad K Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong and others, which was postponed earlier due to the sudden demise of the Speaker of Meghalaya Dr. Donkupar Roy, is rescheduled for August 7 at Mandiwat parking lot opposite to Anderson School, Upper New Nongstoin. General Secretary of the Hima Nongstoin Land Owner Coal Trader & Producer Association AL Syiem told the media persons here that a felicitation of the chief minister, deputy chief minister and all the people who have been involved in the fight against the ban of coal mining will be held at 11:00 am. He also appealed to all the headmen, sordars, youths and the people of the district to come and be a part of the felicitation programme.
Employees hold annual meet
SHILLONG: The National Health Mission Employees Association of Meghalaya (NEAM) organised its 3rd Annual General Meeting 2019 in Chutwakhu Indoor Stadium, Jowai, on Saturday. The programme was organised by the DEC of West Jaintia Hills and East Jaintia Hills. A memorandum related to absorption of NHM employees, employee benefits, an increase in state’s share contribution towards National Health Mission was submitted to the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday, while Wailadmiki Shyllya, who was the chief guest during the programme, was requested to intervene the matter with the chief minister. A discussion with plan activity and deliberation of issues related to the welfare of NHM employees in the state was also held during the programme.
