Manipur witnesses state-wide strike

Imphal: Life came to a grinding halt in Manipur following a state-wide strike called by JAC against the murder of Babysana from 5 am to midnight.
People blocked roads using burnt tyres and woods making it difficult for vehicles to ply on the roads.
Clashes occurred between police and protestors and police arrested some key members of the JAC.
Police were in a search for office bearers of the JAC to take them into custody. Over a dozen persons were injured in police firing.
All business establishments and educational institutes were closed down due to the strike.
The JAC have held protests against the murder of Babysana, a Class VIII student.
School authority claimed that she committed suicide but bruises were found on her knee and other parts of the body. (UNI)
