SHILLONG: Reply to an RTI query has revealed misuse of MGNREG scheme amounting to Rs 32 lakh.
The application was filed by a section of residents of Mawkhan Pasir falling under Mylliem constituency, East Khasi Hills at the BDO’s office.
Addressing the press here on Monday, a resident, Trycolor Kurkalang, said they had found flaws on the implementation of projects taken up under the scheme.
There are nine schemes under the MGNREG in Mawkhan Pasir and the sanctioned scheme is worth Rs 93, 40, 450 pertaining to construction of motorable road, retaining wall from existing road to Thwei Kshong at Mawkhan Pasir and construction of check dam-cum-washing shed near Santila Tariang’s place at Umsanam.
The residents have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner, Matsiewdor War, to take action on the misuse of funds as the work done is not commensurate with the sanctioned amount.
