SHILLONG: The bodies of two persons, who drowned in Wah Kyllang, Laitlyngkot village, were fished out after five days on Monday.
Arthur Kyrmen Khongbuh was swept away by the river on August 15 when he went to search for his cousin, Harry Khongbuh, studying in class VI. Harry had gone to the river with his relatives for fishing but he slipped and fell into the river. Strong currents triggered by heavy rain carried him away.
The bodies were taken out by four residents of Khat-ar Shnong – Tangait Khongshei, Tarsan Khongshei, Ridenstar Mawpat and Mnian Khongsit. Rescue efforts were also made by the police department and SDRF but in vain.
Headman of Nongthymmai-Lumthangding, Laitlyngkot, T Dkhar, expressed gratitude to the four locals for coming all the way from Khat-ar Shnong.
The mortal remains of Arthur and Harry were taken to Lumthangding.
