Army Wives Welfare Association Day celebrated

SHILLONG: Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) Day, 2019 was celebrated at Headquarters 101 Area in Shillong on Friday.
Lectures and workshops were organised on the theme ‘Year of Next of Kin’ in which special emphasis was laid on measures to make the next of kin aware of their rights and also to make them self-reliant.
A central welfare meet was organised at Assam Regimental Centre. The meeting was chaired by Snigdha Varma, zonal president of the association, HQ 101 Area. It provided a common platform wherein all Sanginis interacted with each other.
Women whose husbands/sons have martyred were also felicitated.
A health camp was also organised for Veer Naris and Veer Matas at Military Hospital Shillong.
They were afforded single window access, to resolve ECHS and CSD issues during the camp.
Similar programme was also held in Jorhat, Assam on Friday.
