Renikton inspects Jakrem ahead of Synod service

MAWKYRWAT: Mawkyrwat MLA Renikton L Tongkhar along with officials from the PWD (Roads), PHE, village leaders and church elders on Friday inspected internal roads within Jakrem village, South West Khasi Hills, as part of the preparation for the upcoming Synod service of the KJP Synod Sepngi which will be held at Jakrem Presbyterian Church in March, 2020.
Speaking to the media after the inspection, Tongkhar expressed happiness as locals including officials of different departments are working together for the preparation of the upcoming Synod service.
The MLA also informed that as part of the preparation of the Synod service, the PWD (Roads) has sent two proposals to the state government for constructing 3 kms internal roads at Jakrem village and for the construction of a one- km road from Jakrem to Tynrong Rangmaw which was meant for parking of vehicles during the Synod service. The estimated cost for the projects will be about Rs three crore. He also informed that the construction of the 7.6 kms Jakrem-Shait Shait Umoid road sanctioned through the PMGSY at Rs eight crore is going on.
Tongkhar also said that the PHE had also sent a proposal for construction of the Pyndeniasiat Water Supply Scheme at Jakrem through RIDF at an estimated cost of Rs 3.5 crore.
He said that even though the government does not have sufficient fund he will try to convince it to sanction these projects.
Meanwhile, Headman of Jakrem village, Pascal Wahlang lauded the MLA for taking the developmental activities at Jakrem village seriously to ensure that the Synod service is a success. He also assured that all cooperation will be given in implementing the developmental activities as it will benefit the people.
Others who were present during the inspection include the Executive Engineer of PWD Mawkyrwat Division, M Mawroh, SDO PWD, RB Pakyntien, JE PWD K. Shangdiar and SDO PHE Nongdhar.
