NCC conducts inaugural treasure hunt in WJH

SHILLONG: With an aim of creating adventure sports culture among the youth and to motivate students to undertake outdoor activities, a one-day trekking-cum-treasure hunt was conducted in West Jaintia Hills by NCC Gp, Shillong.
Around 136 NCC cadets including scouts and students of Thomas Jones Synod College and Government Higher Secondary School, Jowai participated in the event.
Brigadier PM Bali, Group Commander flagged off the gala event while Garod LSN Dykes, DC, Lakador Syiem, SP, principals, faculty members and other civil administration officials encouraged the participants by taking part in the event as well.
Survival skills including the use of ground, magnetic compass, map reading, First Aid, environment conservation and recruitment in defense forces were also discussed.
