Documentary on free solo climber screened at IIM

SHILLONG: National Geographic in collaboration with IIM Shillong screened Oscar-winning documentary Free Solo on Friday.
The movie documents the attempt of professional rock climber Alex Honnold, who is famous for free solo ascents, to climb the El Capitan rock of Yosemite National Park.
The event on the IIM campus culminated with a case discussion among participants of the institute and trekking guru Maninder Kohli, who compared the journey of a rock climber with that of a manager and how both can get over impediments through sheer force of perseverance and tenacity.
This is the second time that National Geographic partnered with IIM Shillong, the first time being in 2018 when it screened the channel’s series Mega Icons on former president APJ Abdul Kalam, who breathed his last while delivering a lecture at the institute on July 27, 2015.
