SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday said the Health department is tying up with Vedanta Hospital and Coal India for a TB-free Meghalaya.
He informed that discussions on the initial work have been held and that four ambulances have been provided by Coal India.
He said Vedanta Hospital is known for its work in the field of TB and will tie up with Meghalaya.
He added that the state is taking a number of steps to ensure that health indicators such as Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) improves in the next two years and better nutrition of children below 5 years of age is guaranteed.
Stating that there are challenges on the infrastructure and financial front, Sangma said even with the current resources the state can get 30-50 per cent improvement in health indicators.
