Headman’s demand for fund irks residents

SHILLONG: Residents of Ratacherra, East Jaintia Hills claimed that the Waheh Chnong (headman) demanded money for Dorbar fund.
Tihun Sumer, a resident alleged that the headman D. Pohshna threatened the residents that they will be denied of their residential certificates if they do not comply with the demand of payment.
Sumer said that the residents will have to shell out Rs 500, Rs 1000, Rs 2000 and Rs 3000 depending on their financial status per year. Another resident said that the actual amount for Dorbar fund is Rs 50 to 100.
As many as 106 aggrieved households approached the District Administration but there has been no response till date.
