SHILLONG: The UDP has decided to abide by the decision of MDA for the post of Assembly Speaker.
The UDP had maintained that the post should go to the party since the former UDP president Donkupar Roy had held the post till his death.
UDP leader Jemino Mawthoh said the party has eligible candidates for the post of Speaker and the name will be projected to the MDA. Besides the UDP, other parties may also suggest the names of their party MLAs. “Ultimately we feel that there will be a consensus candidate of the MDA for the Speaker’s post”, Mawthoh said.
