5 killed in road mishap

SHILLONG: Five persons including a  12 –year-old girl  were killed when the vehicle they were travelling in fell in a deep gorge of about 100  feet in a village in Mawsynram.

Police informed that all the five victims were female and the accident took place around  6 am on Monday.

The accident occurred when an overloaded Mahindra Maxx (ML 06 – 3678) with 23 passengers plunged into a deep gorge at Tynger village.

The people who have lost their lives include : Bisilo Rodborne, Sillamery Katrai, Aitildabon Jeengaph, Nancy Laitthma (38)  and the 12-year-old girl.

The injured passengers were rushed to Shillong Civil Hospital for treatment.
