SHILLONG: The Garo Students Union (GSU) Balat Regional Unit has urged the state government to give reasons on the transfer of Lyndon Mornin Executive Engineer of PHE Department, Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills. Mornin had taken charge of his office on February 14, the president of the union, John K Sangma said in a statement issued here.
“The state government should follow the norms before transferring officers from any district. The union wants to know if these transfers are a result of communal wave or something wrong done by the officers. If the transfers are based on communication problems the government should appoint an officer who knows all of the district languages,” John said adding that the union strongly demands the state government to stop transfers of officers before completion of term.
