SHILLONG: In one of the biggest hauls in the history of Meghalaya as far as psychotropic drug is concerned, a joint operation of ANTF, East Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills and Khliehriat Police Station recovered around 76, 000 Yaba tablets commonly known as ‘World is Yours’ tablets or ‘Madness drug’ weighing around 7.85kg on Thursday. The value of the seized drugs is around Rs one crore.
The seizure was made during police checking in Khliehriat.
East Jaintia Hills SP, Vivekanand Singh said that the tablets were recovered from three ladies who were travelling from Silchar to Shillong in a Tata Sumo vehicle. A case has been registered at Khliehriat PS.
Heroin seized
Meanwhile on Wednesday, a joint operation of ANTF, East Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills along with Ladrymbai Outpost recovered 70.43 grams of heroin from two places in Shillong in connection with a Khliehriat case. Two people were arrested taking the total number of arrests to six and the recovery of heroin in the particular case stands at 93.92 grams.
