Painting workshop
TURA: The North East Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, Dimapur, in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture will organise a ‘painting workshop’ at the District Auditorium in Tura on September 10-13.
The workshop aims to expose and promote well known artistes from Garo Hills. An exhibition-cum-sale of paintings by artistes will also be held as part of the workshop.

Prohibitions under Sec 144 CrPC
NONGPOH: The District Magistrate, Ri Bhoi, Nongpoh has, under Section 144 CrPC, prohibited parking of commercial vehicles and coal laden trucks in the premises of petrol pumps and service centres within the district and parking of more than 2 heavy commercial vehicles and coal laden trucks in one place along NH-6 which would result in space constraint and congestion.
The magistrate has also passed the order prohibiting illicit stock piling and coal depot as well as sale of coal on NH-6.

College celebrates 35th foundation day
NONGPOH: The Ri Bhoi College Alumni Association (RBCAA) celebrated the 35th Foundation Day of Ri Bhoi College on the college premises, Nongpoh on Monday, in remembrance of the farsightedness and visionary leaders who established the institution to provide better education to the youths of Nongpoh in particular and Ri Bhoi as a whole.
Floral tributes were given to the founding principal, (L) R I Masharing, the Syiem clan which included (L) Risuktimai Syiem and (L) Belsimai Syiem, who have donated the land freely for setting up of the college at their cemetery located at Pahamsyiem village.
Others who were present included the daughter of (L) R I Masharing, Deigratia Syiem, and son-in-law Mathew Makdoh, besides RBCAA members and college students. A parents and teachers meeting was also held during the day in which the Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner was chief guest besides principal, SSR Bamon, the teaching staff, non-teaching staff, parents and students.
Meanwhile, one of the main attractions of the celebration, the Local Cuisine Food Festival was also inaugurated by the DC.

Prize distribution at Raj Bhavan
SHILLONG: The prize distribution ceremony of the Talent Search Exam will be held at the Durbar Hall of Governor House (Raj Bhavan) as part of the concluding ceremony of 125th Anniversary of historic Chicago Address by Swami Vivekananda on Wednesday from 4 pm onwards.
The programme will be held in the presence of Tathagata Roy, Governor of Meghalaya, Swami Sarvabhutananda and Swami Divyaswarupananda, Secretary and Assistant Secretary, respectively, of Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong.
Moreover, the result of inter school talent search competition held on August 31 was declared at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre on Monday.
Meanwhile, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Sohra will organise an inter-school seminar on Swami Vivekananda’s classic paper on Hinduism at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama on September 19.
All higher secondary and secondary schools of Meghalaya have been invited to participate in the seminar.
The participation form should be filled up and sent to the Principal Ramakrishna H/S School latest by September 14. The duly filled in form can be sent by post or online at [email protected]/[email protected].
