JOWAI: The North East Indigenous Peoples’ Front (NEIPF) – Youth Wing South Eastern Border Region has strongly opposed the proposed setting up of a coke factory in East Jaintia Hills.
“The proposed setting up of a coke factory will badly affected four villages including, Deinsatlang, Lad-Wapung, Umsatai and Pyn-ur-kba,” said NEIPF president Letmon Pyrtuh. The NEIPF requested the District Administration and the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) not to issue any NOC or clearance to any individuals or company for setting up of such factories and to keep in mind the welfare of the people.
