SHILLONG: Joint Action Committee of different NGOs of Mangsang area in East Garo Hills (EGH), met Chief Minister Conrad Sangma at his official residence on Monday in which they apprised him of the pending road construction work connecting Rongjeng via Mangsang.
In a statement issued here, they said the road is the life-line of the people of Mangsang as well as the adjoining villages of West Khasi Hills district. However, the bad condition of the road has created inconveniences to the people of the state though the road construction has started from 2017.
The JAC informed that some owners have demanded compensation for their land to be used for widening of existing roads. But the scheme meant for the road construction does not have any sanction for compensation.
