SHILLONG: A section of the residents of Hynniew Shnong of Raid Nongrem falling under Hima Khyrim has alleged that different Sordars of Raid Tynring have been harassing people since 2000.
The residents alleged that the Syiem of Hima Khyrim, including the Executive Members of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), are involved with the Sordar of Raid Tynring.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, the headman of Lumdiengngan, Kerson Kharkongor, said that the Sordar of Raid Tynring, Warding Nongrum, would bring groups of people in two buses with sticks and stones and threaten the people with robbing their poultry, charcoal and destroying farmlands. He said that the Executive Member in charge of Elaka, Pyniaid Sing Syiem, also allows the Sordar to oppress the people and violate all customary practices.  The villages under Hynniew Shnong include Mawkynring, Lumkseh, Wahmyntait, Mawkdup, Lumdiengngan, Lumrit and Shnong Kyrdeng.
