SHILLONG: Former Chief Minister DD Lapang and Opposition Chief Whip P T Sawkmie have condoled the death of former Nongpoh MLA Constantine Lyngdoh (56). In a condolence message on Thursday, Lapang said he was shocked to hear the sudden demise of Constantine, the former MLA of Nongpoh constituency, on Wednesday.
“In the past, we had fought elections against each other but had no personal differences and continued to serve the district in our own capacity”, Lapang said. According to Lapang, his death is an irreparable loss to his family, near and dear ones, and to the society. He was the son of the soil and has always worked for the poor, Lapang said.
“The people of Ri Bhoi join me in conveying our deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family particularly to his wife Thelena Swer, and pray to almighty God that the departed soul rests in eternal peace”, he said.
In a separate condolence message, Sawkmie said the former MLA had worked for the development of the constituency during his tenure. “His death is a great loss to the family and the people of Nongpoh constituency“, Sawkmie said .
