SHILLONG: A section of women of Nohwet has alleged that the Sordar, Noblestar Khonglar, and secretary of Raid Rangnah Kyrshansing Khongsar, have disrupted the Dorbar of Nohwet as they have opposed the move to allow women in the Dorbar.
A woman from the village, Braiarrose Tynsong, told reporters here on Friday that a Dorbar was held to adopt a resolution on whether to allow women’s participation in the Dorbar. However, it was inconclusive as it was disrupted by the two men and their groups. Khonglar and Khongsar said, “Only men are allowed to participate in the Dorbar”. Tynsong said that they have proposed to the headman of Nohwet, Bose Swell Khongthohrem, to allow women in the Dorbar so that they can also shoulder responsibilities of the village.
