SHILLONG: President of Fair Price Shop Dealer’s Association Shillong, Anwar Khan and Assistant General Secretary of All India Fair Price Shop Dealers’ Federation attended the two-day meeting of All lndia Fair Price Shop Federation held on Monday and Tuesday.
The federation’s working committee members met the Food & Civil Supplies Minister, Jottipriya Mullick in the conference hall of the ministry building.
In a statement issued here, the association stated that the meeting was a success with the participation of thousands of dealers.
Leaders of every state met & voiced their grievances over the functioning of the central government with regard to the Public Distribution System (PDS).
All India Fair Price Shop Dealers’ Federation has stated that the order of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) should be withdrawn centrally by the Union Government without shifting the responsibility to the state governments.
The federation demanded that the decision of “One Nation One Card” should be revised as “One Nation One Card and PDS for all”. The federation stated that Computerisation of PDS and introduction of biometric system are not realistic and not practicable concepts in PDS. For smooth running of PDS manually should be continued.
The federation has decided to go for a nationwide agitation and court cases after the festivals are over i.e. from December involving their consumers.
