Negligence claims life

SHILLONG: Negligence during duty on the part of CHC staff has claimed the life of one person in North Garo Hills, A’chik Youth Welfare Organisation (AYWO), GS Mendipathar Regional Branch informed in a statement issued here.
The organisation convinced the three other NGOs (ADE, FKGJP, GSU Northern Zone) to join hands against the staff and handed over the written complaint to district commissioner, superintendent of police and the district health officer to take the strict action against them.
The organisation said that according to reliable resources, the victim’s family took the stroke patient to Resubelpara CHC on Wednesday evening, but proper medication was not given. According to the victim’s family members, after the admission of the stroke patient, the doctor and nurses who were on duty that particular night did not visit the patient for the whole night and the patient ultimately died in the morning.
Moreover, the organisation also pointed out at the 108 service is not available in the district on time.
