Retired teachers’ body formed

SHILLONG: A Retired Deficit School Teachers association was formed on Saturday which will take up issues relating to pension and other retirement facilities for the deficit schools teachers with the government.
ED Nongsiang, who was appointed as the president of the new association, said that the new body has decided to work together with colleagues from Garo Hills and a unit of the retired teachers will join the association soon.
Nongsiang also said that they will immediately take up the matter relating to pension and other retirement facilities with the government.
“We are also trying to fix a meeting with the chief minister” he added. “The aim of our association is also to foster a sense of self sacrifice and dedication for the cause of the members and all other teachers besides establishing a feeling of unity with other teachers’ associations and helping in the uplift of the state by bringing quality education,” Nongsiang said.
) The association would also hold two conferences in Phulbari in West Garo Hills on October 25 and 26 to discuss and plan out the roadmap for issues which need to be taken up.
