Diocese, Sanbor condole Jala’s death

NONGSTOIN/SHILLONG: The Diocese of Nongstoiñ, West Khasi Hills District has expressed sadness over the “unpredictable demise” of the Archbishop of Shillong, Dominic Jala, who was also the Apostolic Administrator of Nongstoiñ even as South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai expressed shock and sorrow over the tragic incident.
Fr. VF Kharsyiemiong said that the Diocese gathered together on October 12 to mourn Jala’s death.
The Diocese unanimously decided to offer requiem Masses in all parishes and institutions within the Diocese. Catholic schools in the Diocese will remain closed on the day of the funeral.
He said the Diocese is sincerely grateful for the fatherly care of the Archbishop during the last three years as the Apostolic Administrator and prayed that the Lord reward him with eternal bliss.
Sanbor, while lamenting the loss of a great personality, said “I, on behalf of my family and the people of my constituency, convey our deepest condolences to the members and close relatives of the bereaved family and to all the members of Meghalaya Archdioceses.”
Meanwhile, the Synjuk Ki Rangbah Kur Ka Bri U Hynñiewtrep (a conglomeration of clan elders of the Hynñiewtrep), has also expressed sadness over the incident.
