MLA wants CM to declare holiday for Jala’s funeral

SHILLONG: Mawlai MLA P T Sawkmie has urged Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to declare a state holiday during the funeral of Archbishop Dominic Jala.
In a letter , Sawkmie, who is also the Opposition Chief Whip, said that a state holiday on the day of funeral will be a mark of respect to the departed soul of the spiritual leader who had contributed a lot for the uplift and development of Meghalaya.
