BSF organises parade on Police Commemoration Day

SHILLONG: The BSF Meghalaya Frontier organised a parade at BSF War Memorial, Umpling on Monday, on the occasion of the 60th Police Commemoration Day.
During the parade, BSF paid homage to 292 police and central armed police personnel who sacrificed their lives during the last one year, for safeguarding the integrity of the nation and providing security to the people.
Ajai Singh, Deputy Inspector General/PSO, laid the wreath at War Memorial and paid tribute to the martyrs in the presence of officers and men of the force.
During the parade, a two-minute silence was observed for those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
“During the last one year, 41 brave BSF personnel including three officers, seven subordinate officers and 31 others made the supreme sacrifice while performing duties in different parts of the country and their sacrifices will always be remembered and honoured,” Singh said.

Clan to honour members on Oct 26
NONGSTOIN: The Myrthong clan of West Khasi Hills will felicitate the first pioneers of the clan at Weiloi, South West Khasi Hills District on October 26.
P.W. Myrthong, Secretary of Myrthong clan in West Khasi Hills told pressmen here on Tuesday that Gigur Myrthong, MLA & MDC of Mawshynrut, 9 priests belonging to the Myrthong clan which includes 5 pastors and 4 fathers who have rendered their service to the people and the state will be felicitated.
P.W. Myrthong also informed that the programme will be held at Weiloi community hall from 10 am and requested all the members of the clan from across the state to attend the felicitation.
