SHILLONG: The state government on Friday amended the state excise rules which is expected to bring in additional revenue of Rs 7-8 crore annually.
Speaking to newsmen after a Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the rules have been amended to increase the overall revenue of the state.
As there are seven categories for different brands and categorisation of IMFL, Sangma said that the government has re-categorised by reducing the “value of the cost of the price” on per case basis.
He said that the deluxe prestige categorisation used to be Rs 885 to Rs 1285 but now the government has reduced it to Rs 701 to Rs 920 adding that the idea is to reduce the cost price and include certain brands in certain categories.
Informing that the government has changed the ad-valorem rate on different categories, he added that due to the rationalisation between the categorisation and ad-valorem, the state would see an increase in revenue to the tune of Rs 7-8 crores annually.
