SHILLONG: Social Welfare Minister Kyrmen Shylla has assured that the government would make all efforts to ensure that the development of the state is not affected despite fund constraints.
Talking to media persons here recently, Shylla admitted that some proposals were stuck due to fund constraints, but expressed optimism in the leadership of Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, saying that he is working hard to resolve all the issues.
“We hope that all the problems will be resolved soon,” he said
Stating that he as a politician would feel ashamed if he cannot do anything for the people of the state in the five-year tenure, the minister from East Jaintia Hills also said that fund constraints so far have not affected the programmes of the department since it already has some savings.
“But when we want to bring new projects, we have to think twice about the funding aspect but fortunately, no programmes have been cancelled as of now due to fund constraints,” the minister said.
The chief minister has downplayed the financial crunch which the state is facing, but admitted there are challenges.
According to the chief minister, the state has witnessed a revenue jump of 17 per cent in the last one year and the government has now set a target of 30 per cent in the current fiscal.
