SHILLONG: Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh on Monday laid the foundation stone for the construction of Mairang Bypass under the Central Road Fund (CRF) 2018-19 in a function held at Tirot Sing Memorial Hall, Pyndengumiong at Mairang.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, he said that the road is not for the benefits of Pyndengumiong locality alone but for the whole of Mairang constituency. He said the objective is not only to get the schemes but to ease the traffic within the area especially on market days as traffic congestion poses a threat to pedestrians in particular and the residents of Pyndengumiong as a whole.
It may be mentioned that the 2.375-km long road will be constructed under the CRF 2018-19 scheme at a cost of Rs 8.64 crore.
