Sustainable mountain devp summit from November 4

SHILLONG: The Indian Mountain Initiative, New Delhi in collaboration with the Meghalaya Integrated Development Initiative (MIMDI), Shillong will host the 8th Sustainable Mountain Development Summit from November 4 to 6 at the NEC Auditorium in Nongrim Hills.
The theme for the summit is ‘Sustainable Mountain Initiative for Livelihood and Entrepreneurship among Youth’ (SMILEY).
The Summit will be co-hosted by Martin Luther Christian University and NERCORMP, Shillong.
The inaugural function will be held on the November 4 at 12pm and Chief Conrad Sangma will inaugurate the programme as the chief guest.
Sessions and panel discussions will be held on topics like approaches to e-agriculture, renewable energy,  food  processing and marketing including sustainable tourism, creating jobs for  the youth and many others.
The ‘Legislators Meet’ from the Indian Himalayan states will be also held on November 6 at NEC which will deliberate on policy issues and future plans.
The summit is co-sponsored by North Eastern Council and the Government of Meghalaya along with international agencies including the Swiss Agency for Development & Cooperation and the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development.
Representatives and resource persons from different departments and agencies like ICAR, ICIMOD, SDC, Zero Waste and others will attend the programme.
