15 killed, 6 hurt amid festivities in Bihar

Patna: Altogether 15 people were killed and six others were injured in separate incidents in various parts of the state during Chhath festival in Bihar.
According to a report received from Samastipur, the joyous mood of the people during Chhath festival at Bargaon village under Hasanpur police station area in the district turned sombre when the wall of a temple constructed on the side of a pond caved in and fell on them this morning killing two.
The deceased had been identified as Leela Devi (61) and Bucchi Devi (60). Suman said that the injured were admitted to a government hospital at Hasanpur where one more person died during the treatment.
According to report from Bhagalpur, two children drowned in separate incidents while offering Araghya to Sun God. One child died in Ganga river near Ganga ghat at Gangania village under Sultanganj police station area while the other died in a water body at Salempur village under Pirpaiti police station area in the district in similar incident.
As per report received from Katihar, Mayank Kumar, 14 year old son of Subhash Chandra, died while taking bath in a water body at Parti Chhath Ghat under Kadwa police station area. Sumit Kumar also died in similar incident at Kachhuabari village under same police station area. (UNI)
