MEPA wants enhanced welfare schemes

SHILLONG: The executive committee meeting of the Meghalaya Editors and Publisher Association (MEPA) held on the November 7 has decided to remind the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on journalist welfare fund and pension scheme.
The meeting has decided to urge the Chief Minister to enhance the corpus of Journalist Welfare Fund and that it should not be made into a onetime assistance.
It will also urge the state government to implement pension scheme for journalists of Meghalaya as was done in Assam and others and to implement the media policy as assured earlier.
