SHILLONG: The members of Meghalaya Indigenous People Front (MIPF) alleged that banks in East Khasi Hills District have not recognised the Land Holding Certificate (LHC) issued by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) which is a hindrance for people who are looking for loans.
The MIPF met the Executive Member (EM) in-charge of Land, Titosstarwell Chyne on Monday to apprise him of the matter.
Speaking to reporters, the vice-president of MIPF, Kitboklang Lyngdoh said the organisation has urged the KHADC to look into the matter and see that the LHC is recognised as in the case of Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).
On the other hand, the organisation has urged the KHADC to start the process of registration of land by the indigenous people within the jurisdiction of the council.
The organisation informed that on the part of Chyne, he will call a meeting of the land committee.
