Mawkyrwat: Ranikor Constituency MLA Pius Marwein on Monday released various schemes and projects worth Rs 2 crore under the Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP) 2018-19 and also launched an ambulance which he donated in the meeting held at the office of the BDO Ranikor under Ranikor Civil Sub-Division.
Speaking on the occasion, Marwein said that the fund has been released to the beneficiaries in a transparent manner.
He also called upon the people to be patient because the schemes, worth only Rs 2 crore, cannot content in one year the vast Ranikor Constituency which has more than 180 villages and thousands of households.
He also informed that the proposal for the SRWP 2019-20 has been prepared hoping that more families will be covered through the scheme.
Through the SRWP 2018-19, Marwein has sanctioned Rs.1.9 crore for CGI sheets for 608 households in which each household will get 3 bundles, Rs.10.56 lakhs for 2108 pieces of plastics chairs for different villages, Rs.39.50 lakh for financial assistance for agricultural activities for 395 beneficiaries in which each beneficiary will get Rs.10,000, Rs.10.50 for 30 street lights in different villages, Rs.20 lakhs for improvement of football field in different villages, Rs.2 lakhs for one Women Organisation, Rs.3 lakh for constructing houses of 6 beneficiaries and 5 lakh for Ranikor Constituency Development Committee (RCDC).
He also said that the schemes will be distributed in 21 locations of the Constituency to ease the problems faced by the people from far-flung areas.
“It will be useless for the people from the areas of Maheshkola, Phlangdiloin, Ngunraw, Rangthong, Trongpleng and Umpung to come to Ranikor and collect the 3 bundles CGI sheets as they have to spend lots of money and therefore the schemes will be distributed in 21 centres,” Marwein said.
Marwein also said that Ranikor Constituency has been left unattended for many years and during his one-year tenure as an MLA, he has tried his best to bring development which include roads and other projects in health sector and drinking water in different villages in the Constituency.
He also informed that earlier, the Civil Sub-Division has been decided to set up at Khatphra village, but since the place was in dispute between parties, it has been decided to set up at 25 Mile near Ranikor.
“We have come to an understanding with the Syiem of Hima Langrin and in the coming weeks, we will inspect the site at 25 Mile for setting up of the Civil Sub-Division,” he said.
Regarding the ambulance, which he donated, Marwein said that the ambulance will be taken care of by the Ranikor Constituency Development Committee (RCDC) and it will be placed in Shillong to serve the people of the Constituency.
