SHILLONG: The Joint Action Committee of Hima Sohiong marched to the office of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) asking the executive committee (EC) of the Council to return the Raid Nongwah Mawtamur to Hima Sohiong.
The residents demanded the removal of the Lyngdoh of Hima Sohiong for surreptitiously handing over the Raid Nongwah Mawtamur to Hima Jirang and also demanded the stepping down of KHADC CEM Teinwell Dkhar.
The people were unwilling to budge and kept shouting slogans on the premises. Later in the evening, KHADC CEM Teinwell Dkhar said that the Syiem of Hima Jirang has been asked to prepare the necessary documents and submit to the Council within one month.
Dkhar said that if the Raid has been handed over in an illegal manner, Hima Jirang should return the Raid to Hima Sohiong.
The CEM said that the residents who marched to the Council are not aware that the KHADC has taken the matter seriously and were happy and satisfied when they were informed of the steps taken by the Council.
