Don Bosco museum gets cafeteria
SHILLONG: The Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures (DBCIC), Mawlai has opened a cafeteria on the top floor of the museum premises on Monday. The cafeteria was inaugurated by Fr. Paul Olphindro Lyngkot, the Provincial of the Don Bosco society of Shillong Province. Speaking on the occasion Fr. Manoj, the director of the museum thanked all the people involved in completing the establishing of the cafeteria. “The new cafeteria has a nice view on the other side of the museum and people can enjoy and relax themselves with a cup of coffee,” said Lyngkot.

BSF holds medical camp
SHILLONG: Ahead of the 55th Raising Day of the Border Security Force (BSF), a medical camp was organised by 11 battalion of BSF on November 24 at Border Outpost (BOP) Gumaghat. Kuldeep Saini, Inspector General frontier headquarter, Meghalaya, inaugurated the camp. BSF doctors including a lady doctor, nursing assistant and paramedical staff, participated in providing medical assistance to the border population. Around 200 villagers attended the camp. Earlier on November 23, to foster the competitive spirit and engage the local youths, a friendly football match was also organised at Nolikata stadium between Nolikata and Kariagora villages. The event was inaugurated by Saini. Sixty-five students along with 12 staff of Siksha Bikash Foundation B.ED and D.EL.Ed college, Burdwan, West Bengal visited BSF’s Dawki BOP. The students, during the programme, were briefed about the role, task and duties of the BSF.

3rd death anniv of Wahlang observed
SHILLONG: The third death anniversary of B Nishan Wahlang was observed with a talk by one of his close friends and an eminent cultural exponent Sumar Sing Sawian. In a brief address, Sawian acknowledged the contribution of late Wahlang towards the Annual Apphira Archery contest since its inception in 1990. He said that there have been consecutive discussions about the Khasi archery game as a traditional sport with layers of folk elements about various cultural significance, its connection in society as a pastime, among others. The other elders, present at the occasion, also shared their thoughts with regard to the contribution of late Wahlang to the society, and paid tributes.
