NONGSTOIN: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Shillong, as part of the financial inclusion agenda, organised a Field-Level Financial Awareness Event at Seijlieh Dorbar Hall, Nongstoin on Monday.
The programme was inaugurated by Assistant Deputy Commissioner, Nongstoin, PD Sangma, and was attended by General Manager (Officer-in-Charge) RBI, Shillong, Anurag Asthana, RBI officials, bank officials operating in the district, members of the local dorbar and villagers.
In the keynote address, Asthana highlighted the importance of financial literacy and financial inclusion. He also explained how the functions and activities of RBI directly or indirectly affect the general public.
Assistant Manager, RBI, Ahishek Pandey, in his PowerPoint presentation, explained the need for financial planning and budgeting; precautions from fraudulent e-mails, SMS, phone calls and fraudulent companies; new developments in the field of digital transaction such as UPI, BHIM, SSD, etc.
