SHILLONG: The Achik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM), while hitting out at Shyamnagar MDC SG Esmatur Mominin for demanding creation of a separate territorial council in Garo Hills with reservation for non-Bodo, has said that the MDC’s agenda is groundless.
The organisation said that reservation for non-Bodo refers to inclusion of more seats for non-tribals and non-Garos.
“Mominin has forgotten to which community he belongs. This is an attempt to break the Constitution and the administration of tribal areas. GHADC will be administered by Garos, is for Garos and was factually designed to give protection for Garos from the non-tribal. We undoubtedly oppose the inclusion of a territorial council in GHADC,” the organisation said.
