UP cop suspended for objectionable posts against PM, RSS
Sultanpur: A police sub-inspector was suspended for posting objectionable comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on social media, the police said. The sub-inspector Anand Gautam, posted at the Kadipur police station here, had written the comments between 2016 and 2018, and had not deleted them despite warning. Sultanpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Himanshu Kumar has suspended the sub-inspector with immediate effect and has also ordered an inquiry into the matter. A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) rank officer has been asked to review Gautam’s Twitter and Facebook posts, including six against the Prime Minister and four against the RSS and BJP, before initiating legal action. “The suspended officer has been asked to explain his conduct. The social media cell of the district police will review the social media accounts of all police personnel. A warning has been issued to all to refrain from objectionable posts,” the SP said. The suspended sub-inspector’s posts were brought to the notice of Kadipur SHO Om Veer Singh by local BJP leaders who claimed that he had also maligned the chief minister. (IANS)


PC’s judicial remand extended
New Delhi: A court here on Wednesday extended, till December 11, the judicial custody of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram in the money laundering case relating to INX Media deal. Chidambram was produced before Special CBI Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar who extended his judicial custody. The senior Congress leader is being probed for his alleged involvement in irregularities in grant of Foreign Investment Promotion Board approval to INX Media during his term as the finance minister. LS passes bill to ban e-cigarettes
New Delhi: A bill to ban the production, import and sale of electronic cigarettes was passed by Lok Sabha on Wednesday. The Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes (Production, Manufacture, Import, Export, Transport, Sale, Distribution, Storage and Advertisement) Bill, 2019, seeks to replace an ordinance issued on September 18. School bars boy from wearing turban
Bijnore (UP): The Sikh community is up in arms against a private school here that objected to a class 10 Sikh student wearing a turban. According to reports, the student named Navjot was asked by the principal of St Mary’s school in Najibabad not to wear a turban to school. Navjot had been regularly attending school with his turban but two days ago, he was asked not to wear turban to school. (IANS)
