SHILLONG: Opposition Chief Whip Process T Sawkmie said that the political turn-around happening in the two Autonomous District Councils of Khasi and Garo Hills will not be replicated in the state government.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, he said that the MLAs are not as free as MDCs as they are bound under the Tenth Schedule of the Indian Constitution and that the MDA has the numbers to maintain stability.
Citing the political development in Maharashtra, he said, “Politics is different and in politics anything can happen”. Asked, whether the changing scenario will pave a way for the Congress, Sawkmie said the Congress is applying a wait and watch policy. He went on to say that BJP’s policy is not suitable for Meghalaya.
