SHILLONG: The Khasi-Jaintia Butcher Welfare Association (KJBWA) has said cattle smuggling is one of the reasons for the enhanced price of beef and urged the police department to step in to tackle smuggling activity to Bangladesh.
In a statement issued here, president of KJBWA, Generous Warlarpih urged the people involved in cattle smuggling to not indulge in illegal activities as they are only getting a meager commission whereas the biggest profit goes to Bangladesh traders.
On the other hand, the organisation thanked the Superintendent of Police, Vivekanand Singh Rathore of East Jaintia Hills District for making necessary arrests of smugglers and tackling the issue.
