KSU demolishes toll gate at Nongmynsaw Syiemship

NONGSTOIN: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Rimuliang Circle along with villagers of Langpih area on Tuesday demolished the toll gate at Nongmynsaw Syiemship in Mawlan B.
The union alleged that the toll gate of Nongmynsaw Syiemship was managed by Syiem Nongbak, acting Syiem of Nongmynsaw Phlowing.
The demolishing of the toll gate in Mawlan was led by Jylliewsing Marwein, president of KSU, Rimuliang Circle, Spingland Ramri, president, KSU Umtap Unit, Spolningstar Jahnoh, president, KSU Iew Nongma Unit and villagers of Langpih area.
Speaking to pressmen here, Jylliewsing said that the union received complaints from public about illegal collection at the toll gate where the pickup trucks that transport ginger and broomstick were charged Rs1000 per truck.
He also said that the illegal collection from the toll gate has caused difficulties to the farmers in terms of transportation.
Jylliew informed that the union along with the people of Langpih area has decided to oppose any proposed plan to reinstall the toll gate either by the Hima or any individual.
The union also threatened to file an FIR against the acting Syiem and the members of Hima Nongmynsaw for erecting such a toll gate that has affected the life of local farmers in the region.
